Yesterday (June 10, 2024) Dog Guides announced The Difference Campaign; an initiative aimed at estabilishing a state of the art, purpose-built national Dog Guides training school.

For the members of the Green Capes Lions club and their supporters this was an exciting day where we were recognized for five years of very hard work.  In 2019 we started to collect funds and in 2022 we made an ambitious pledge – to raise a quarter of a million dollars and become the sponsor of the new reception area.

Today we are ready to fulfill that pledge!

I

A quarter of a million dollars is an amazing donation for a small group of big hearted people.  It is important to remember how that money came to be.  It comes from thousands of hours of volunteer time, meeting, planning, printing, sharing, promoting, writing, web building, speaking,  photographing, engaging, lugging boxes, setting up and taking down, raising awareness, wrangling puppies (our favourite part), and more.

We want to thank all of our club members, past and present who started, grew and participated in this small Lions club formed with one purpose in mind – to raise funds for a cause dear to their hearts.  We are fosters of over 200 puppies, we are grads of mulitple DG programs, we are sponsors, supporters and breeder fosters.

We also want to thank our partners including over 130 Lions clubs, Non-Profits and Schools across Canada.

We want to thank the Super Pup Team – over 350 volunteers primarly from the foster and grad community.

Its imporant to also appreciate that while we were raising money for the  Capital Campaign we still gave significant yearly donations to Dog Guides for sponsorships, a van, training tools, medical equipment and more.   Together we have raised over $500,000!

The 2025 Dog Guide Fundraising program is well under way.  We have a cover, we have pictures and we have partners.  We would love it if you wanted to help too.
