Hello everyone! May is here, and Green Capes would like to wish everyone a great Victoria Day/National Patriots Day (QC), and hope you will join us in participating in Pet Valu’s 40th anniversary Walk for Dog Guides event on May 25th!
In this issue, “High Tea” was a great success, Pet Valu’s Walk for Dog Guides 40th Anniversary event is coming soon, updates on the new school construction, and much more!
High Tea was a great success!
On April 12th, the Green Capes Trust Foundation sponsored the hugely successful Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides Mother’s Day High Tea party, helping raise funds in support of Dog Guides.
“It was so much fun, Travis put on an extravaganza, and many volunteers made it flow for our guest’s enjoyment.
It was also enjoyed by mother Geneva and her two latest puppies, who were happy to be cuddled many times in the photo booth.” – Green Capes Member Angela.

Pet Valu’s Walk For Dog Guides
40th Anniversary event is almost here!
Sunday, May 25th marks the 40th anniversary of the Pet Valu Walk For Dog Guides, a nation-wide fund-raising event to help raise funds in support of dog guides, and the Green Capes Lions Club will be there to do our part!
Donations raised from this event will go to support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides in providing highly trained dog guides to people with disabilities across Canada at no cost, and this year’s goal is to walk the length of Canada, a distance of 5514 Kilometers.
Everyone is welcome and strongly encouraged to join our Green Capes team, regardless of where you’re walking. Together we can make a difference.

Don’t want to walk, but would like to donate? Consider the following from Green Capes and Super Pup Team member Linda, who is a true inspiration:

“For the past few years, Packer and I have been hiking across large sections of Canada in support of Dog Guides. This year our adventures will take us to the Yukon and the interior of BC. Of course that’ll mean hikes along the way too, as we travel through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta to get there and back.
Please consider sponsoring us in our fundraising efforts by clicking on the picture link and leaving a donation. Every donation helps in providing a Dog Guide to a disabled Canadian, at no cost to them, all across this incredible country of ours.
Interior work begins on new school
With the framing for the new school complete, work begins on the interior walls in the basement and on the main level.

Pictured below are five images showing, clockwise from top left, Travis signing a beam showing signatures of those contributing to this building site with black poodle puppy Darby sitting beside him, Signed beam in position over the entrance that is now part of the structure, the basement level with walls in place, construction starting on the ground floor and a south view showing work completed on the upper stories.
