Green Capes Super Pup Newsletter

Hello everyone! It is the month to remember, so let us all “paws” to remember those amazing four-footed friends that have come into our lives as innocent puppies, and as adults, have changed our lives forever.  Let us also remember the absolutely amazing dog fosters, whose hard work and dedication to the cause has provided the foundation on which these amazing “Super Pups” are built!

In this issue:  a post “Howl”-oween reminder, highlights from the latest fundraiser events in B.C., and more!

Hope you had a great “Howl”-oween!

Halloween has come and gone, and we hope that it was a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone!

Just a quick reminder that although the celebrations are over, it is important to keep a watchful eye out for any left-over candy and other treats that might prove to be irresistible attractions to our little friends.

Be sure to watch for anything that might be picked up off the ground and eaten, and only give your dog treats you have personally made or trust have come from a safe source.

If you notice any symptoms, such as lethargy, sudden upset stomach or diarrhea, trouble walking or other odd behaviour, consult your local vet.

Highlights from the latest B.C. events

Two new fundraiser events were held this past month in B.C., and both were an absolutely amazing success!

The first event was held on October 4th and 5th, at the Canadian Tire store in Prince George , B.C., with just over $4,000 in merchandise sales and donations raised! Chocolates from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Prince George and Laura Secord Chocolates were once again the biggest sellers at the event, along with dog treats from the Foley Dog Treats Company in Nanaimo, B.C. and our 2025 Green Capes Dog Guide Puppy Calendar.

The second event was held on October 18th and 19th at the Pet Valu store in Dawson Creek, where just over $1,800 in merchandise sales and donations was raised.  Once again, chocolates, dog treats and calendars were the biggest sellers.

The second of two events in Prince George was also held this past weekend at the Canadian Tire store, and was also a big success, raising just over $3,600 in merchandise sales and donations.  Winter toques and Green Capes note cards were big sellers at this event, along with the calendar and chocolates.

Thank you to the management and staff of the Canadian Tire store in Prince George and the Pet Valu store in Dawson Creek, B.C. for allowing us to be onsite for the events, and to the residents of Prince George and Dawson Creek for your generosity!

Update On The New School Construction

Dog fosters know that the first year of a new Super Pup’s life is the most important in building the foundation for a future Super Hero, and the same is true for a new school.

Already this year, the main foundation has been built, and construction has started on the actual building that will be the new home of the Lion’s Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Below, we see that the main foundation is now in place, and construction material for the actual building is being delivered and readied for the main building construction to begin.

“Supervisor” Turner is also well on his way to becoming a future super hero, proudly and patiently sitting for a portrait and smiling at the camera.
