Hey Super Pup Team. You are a very important part of the success of the Green Capes Lions club and we would like to keep in touch with you on a regular basis. We’ve started a monthly newsletter so we can keep you posted on what’s going on. The same information will be posted on the Facebook group. We’d love to hear back from you – what would you like us to include in the newsletter?
2024 Calendar coming soon!
We are pleased to announce that the new 2024 Green Capes Dog Guide Puppy Calendar has been sent to the printers. The 2023 CSP sales program will be starting in September, so stay tuned for an update on the official launch date and calendar unveiling!
Stevey is growing fast!
Last year we ran a contest to promote the sales of calendars through Lions Clubs. The district with the most sales got to name a litter. District A12 (Central Ontario) was the winner for selling a total of 1,125 calendars. In recognition of this achievement, Green Capes donated $5,000 for the district to “Name a Litter”. The participating clubs in District A12 recently chose the names for the beautiful S litter: Stevey, Sunny, Sky, Storm, Scout, and Sheila. For LFC Chair Bob Murray, Stevey has a special meaning. Lion Les Stevens, a Dog Guides supporter, was instrumental in encouraging Bob to add Dog Guides to his many Lions activities.

Recent event highlights
In June, GCLC was invited to attend the annual “Walk and Roll” at Sunnyside Home LTC. This is a fundraiser organized through the Region of Waterloo. Sunnyside has been supporting the GCLC with sales of our calendar for the past 2 years. They also hosted two calendar events which were well received by residents, staff and visitors. Everyone especially loved interacting with the puppies. Pictures from the event will be posted soon to the Green Capes web site.
For helping out at the event, a big “Thank-you!” goes to: Serena Daub and Janice Martin from GCLC; Fosters Deborah Feick, Emily Rose and Marta Rozman; Sandra James and Barb Bucholtz Thomas from the Floradale club; Karen Kirkpatrick.

EVEN A SUPERHERO NEEDS A HELPING PAW
Our Lions club year goes from July to July, so if you have ever considered becoming a member, now is a great time.
We need new people, new ideas and new energy. As a full member you would be able to participate in meetings and committees, lead events and guide our future!
Did you know that there are fewer than 25 full time members at Green Capes?
Anyone is welcome to join, from anywhere in Canada! Most members are past or present puppy raisers, graduates and supporters, and we all work together to help give Canadians living with disabilities the joy, safety and independence a Dog Guide brings.
Green Capes meets monthly via Zoom, and currently conducts events in southern Ontario and northeast British Columbia.
If you are interested in joining, just reply to this message and our membership coordinator will get back to you asap.
Members pay an annual membership fee of $95 (pro-rated, if applicable), plus a one-time Lions International setup fee of $50.
Come join the fun, and help us make today’s puppies tomorrow’s Superheroes!
